Etna Wine Roads

Route Overview

This cycling itinerary starts and ends in the charming town of Milo, forming a 19.3 km loop along the renowned wine roads of Mount Etna. The route primarily follows low-traffic secondary paved roads, winding through terraced vineyards and rural landscapes on the volcanic slopes.
Along the way, cyclists will pass through picturesque villages, including Milo — known as the town of wine and music — and Sant’Alfio, famous for the legendary “Hundred Horse Chestnut Tree,” a centuries-old tree steeped in local folklore, and for the Vine and Wine Museum, which tells the story of the region’s rich winemaking tradition.
Riders will encounter gently rolling terrain of moderate difficulty, suitable for road, gravel, or touring bikes. The route offers panoramic views of Mount Etna and opportunities to visit local wineries producing distinctive Etna DOC wines, shaped by the volcanic soil.
This loop offers a well-balanced challenge for moderately experienced cyclists, combining scenic beauty, cultural richness, and wine passion in a manageable excursion that loops back to Milo.
